 About TANDAV

This TV-series is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, is yet another offering from the streaming platform that brings together a talented star cast, and director who is best known for directing Salman Khan-led blockbusters.

Safe to say then that quite like his movies, Ali Abbas Zafar keeps his debut web series Tandav stylish but controversial.

He receives nine episodes of 30 to 39 minutes to play with; Ali and writer Gaurav Solanki barely manage to scratch the surface of their characters, choosing garbage over meaningful storytelling.

Tandav sticks to reaffirming our existing perception of politicians, instead of offering any insightful commentary, or entertaining civic lessons.

Tandav TV series takes off little earnestly, weaving in issues like farmers protesting about their lands being usurped, Muslim youth being illegally killed (False creation by writer and director), a growing restlessness amongst students whose idealism is still untainted, and the blurring of lines between politics and activism.

Story Writing -

Writer has partitioned the characters into puppets and puppet masters, only to tell us later, that in politics, almost everyone comes with strings that can be yanked or cruelly twisted.

Tandav starts with the current Prime Minister Tigmanshu Dhulia as Devki Nandan poised to win the elections for the third time. His son Saif Ali Khan as Samar Pratap greets crowds from the balcony of their palatial home; we know instantly that he is shady.

Devki Nandan talks to his friend and colleague of several decades, Gopal Das Munshi (Kumud Kumar Mishra) that he sees a dictator in his son who will be the death of democracy.

A relationship of father and son is established immediately, as is the close bond Devki shares with Dimple Kapadia as Anuradha Kishore.

Everyone can see a plot twist coming up quite early in the first episode, so it isn’t particularly shocking to see the extreme steps a disgruntled son takes to claim what he rightfully believes is his.

Side by side Samar’s schemes for vengeance are the story of overactive Shiva Shekhar (Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub), Sana Mir (Kritika Kamra) and their friends who are students at the fictional VNU, which is clearly you, can see based on JNU.

Shiva don’t want to be a politician, positioning himself as an activist who fights for farmers' rights and demands Azadi from social evils.

Here Samar is ready to lure him on to the grown-ups table and use him as his ‘Chandragupta’ to gain control over the influential student population.

Tandav is a show that is ok ok kind of on paper. It has anger, conspiracy, greed, ambition, treachery and frustration, mind games.

Saif seems too conscious of having to be both these things. The only time he lets the soft-spoken menace go is when he recalls his days as a student leader and suddenly you sit up and take an interest.

 Direction

Director ali abbas zafar who is known for his work with salman khan movies is little bit wavy here. With combine writer and director added little and unnecessary scenes in the show which we clearly see that they are intentionally added to hurt sentiments of specific religion.

Director is failed to give his output in all aspects but as actors are able to convey message so garbage direction goes under carpet.

Tandav Controversy -

Tandav TV-series is in controversy already on social media due to some disturbing scenes. This TV-series has scenes which hurts sentiments of Hindu society. In the Show there is scene of stage drama where Mohm. Zeeshan goes on stage as lord Shiva and other person ask him about fans of lord ram.

Anyone can see Cleary that scene was intentionally added in the film to hurt sentiments by making fun of lord shiv and lord Rama.
