Plot -
Drishyam 2 becomes the first mainstream Malayalam film to announce
its direct-OTT release in 2021. The sequel to the highly successful 2015 film,
which will begin from where Drishyam left off, promises to raise the stakes
with double the thrills.

Location-
Nearly 66 films, including "Kunjali Marikar" of Mohanlal have
been held up due to COVID-19 as theatres have not opened so far. The film has
been shot in Kochi and Thodupuzha.
Director Jeethu Joseph said the film's producer Antony Perumbavoor had spoken
to him onthe OTT release and it is expected that the film will receive a wider
audience.
What about release??
Theatre owner and Producer Liberty Basheer came out against the
decision, saying it would hit theatre owners hard. Many films are stucked due
to COVID-19, he said.
"Since the last 10 months, theatres have been closed and we were hoping
that Drishyam 2 will draw back audiences to the theatres once they open,"
he said.
The teaser of the film, released on Friday, confirmed that it will be premiered on Amazon Prime video this year.
After Drishyam, there have always been questions about a sequel. Lalettan (Mohanlal) would ask me too. I just didn’t know how to continue that story. Finally one possibility became clearer than the others I thought of and the story of George Kutty’s family got written again,” Jeethu had said in an interview with TNM.
Due to these COD-19 conditions this highly-anticipated Malayalam thriller Drishyam 2, starring superstar Mohanlal, will have its global premiere on Amazon Prime Video in 2021, the streamer announced on Friday.
Mohanlal dropped the teaser of the film on January 1, 2021 in the
midnight to give his fans a sneak peek. Written and directed by Jeetu Joseph,
and produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas,
"Drishyam 2" stars Meena, Siddique, Asha Sharath, Murali Gopy,
Ansiba, Esther, and Saikumar in pivotal roles.

Storytelling -
When it comes to storytelling, story of the sequel will begin from
where the prequel left off. The movie was already made into Hindi, starring AJAY DEVGN and TABU.
Mohanlal is going to play the role of Georgekutty in the movie.
The sequel will details how his family is coping with the fall-out from the
fateful night depicted in the original movie. The two-child artist Anju George
and Anumol George are supposed to be added or any fresh artist will be added in
this film.
The teaser shows Mohanal’s
character Georgekutty telling a cop that he believes the new police station
will protect his family.
He will be referring to his secret that he hopes will remain
buried under the floors of the police station forever. But it seems like it
will be a difficult task to do.
Drishyam (first part) was one-of-a-kind thriller, way ahead
of its time, that was loved by all. With ‘Drishyam 2’, now they are taking the
story of Georgekutty and his family ahead from where we left it off.
But the fact is viewers have waited
patiently for the sequel – ‘Drishyam 2’. It is a labour of love; we hope to

Reaction of Fans
Fans know that Bollywood too remade the film and it starred Ajay Devgn and Tabu in the lead. Everyone is aware of the remake culture in Bollywood and therefore, no sooner did Mohanlal drop the teaser of his film Drishyam 2.
Fans did flood on social media with memes about Ajay Devgn all geared up to remake the second part of the film as well.
